Day 236 - Levelling Out

Well, I will soon be heading into my junior year of high school. I don't know how often I will get to play, butCTS may be the answer for me. We will just have to see how the year progresses, as I have two AP classes and an honors class. Should be a busy year.

In chess-related news, I have gone on a bit of a slump lately, but I have won a few lately. I am resuming work on CTS, which will hopefully help. I am hoping for an endgame for my birthday, so that will hopefully cover that aspect of my game. Also, on CTS, I easily have the worst percentage of the top 100 (except for #98, but he had only done 20-so games). I am wondering how I can maintain a 1520 rating there but miss so many more questions than everyone else. Anyone have an explanation for this?

Day 231 - Better Rating!

I have been playing on FICS quite frequently, and my rating has risen to an all-time high of 1693. I have been beating 1700 and low-1800 players recently. I feel that I am more confident and make better moves than I used to. The real weak spot in my game is the endgame, though. I have gotten suggestions from some of the players on FICS, such as Evan's book, and the one by Muller. If anyone else has suggestions for good endgame books, please let me know. Thanks a bunch.

Day 218 - More Wins!

I just got back from a fishing trip, and I did about 190 problems from 365 Checkmates. It was a good review. I just played two games on FICS and I won both of them. One was a resumption of an adjourned game, and the other was just a 15 30. I know have a new high rating of 1615. Yay! I am happy. I hope to get in a few more tactics problems in the upcoming days, maybe during the soccer tournament or while backpacking. Anyways, I should be able to get more done.
